Urban Exposure Independent Film Project

A Ten-Week Summer Film Program for young people highlighting the fundamentals of filmmaking including writing, directing, cinematography and editing. Under the supervision of experienced filmmakers Jonathan Burnett and Jeremy Wernli, high school, and college-aged Students work with one another to realize their creative visions and produce their films from start to finish. By the end of the program, each participant writes, films, edits, and premieres their films at the Figge Art Museum.

Acting for Film Workshop. This two week (twice a week) acting workshop allows students to participate in a short training that requires full involvement in learning the craft of film acting.

Production Crew Bootcamp: The production crew training is a boot camp-style workshop. The filmmakers take students through the entire process in just one day. Students will learn how to handle the equipment properly, work on a film set, production terminology, essential film crew titles, and more.

Coloring Between the Lines Kids' Art Program

The Azubuike art program provides a creative channel that allows kids to express themselves constructively through art. The act of producing art has a powerful healing impact for children who are not always able to put what they experience into words. Through art, children can more easily express their thoughts and feelings. Art is a form of communication and self-expression that is powerful enough to give the Artist a distinct voice through its unique visual language.

Throughout the year, the Azubuike Art Programs offer an incredible variety of art and crafts projects. Students develop artistic skills by using a combination of direct observation and imagination while exploring line, color, shape, perspective, and composition. Strong emphasis is placed on finding and developing a personal style.

Our Vision is to provide youth with inspirational activities that enlighten and educate while celebrating the diversity of culture through the Arts.

Voice & Vision Drama Program

"Voice & Vision” is an eight (8) week performance arts program for graduating 8th-graders and high school age youth.

The program is designed to provide a creative channel that allows young people to explore the arts, build self-esteem, and improve language arts skills through drama.

The Voice & Vision Summer Drama Program is a blend of all arts; visual arts are used for sets and costume designs; music, song, and dance are used to set a mood; short scenes and monologs sharpen the student's acting talents through performing, learning dialogue, and in-depth studies of dramatic literature.

A Film & A Conversation

Azubuike Cultural Enrichment program has been designed to increase the participant’s appreciation for Black culture, which is the fabric of African American lives. Through historical struggle, philosophical ideas, spirituality, religion and the arts; Black culture is the social, intellectual, and artistic achievements of African Americans.

The program provides participants with the tools for understanding Black Culture and introduces them to Black Culture through the contributions of African Americans in art, music, theatre, cinema, literature, and history.  Exposure to cultural enrichment fosters good self-esteem and allows our youth to become more responsible and respectful citizens.
